These holiday spiced date balls are the perfect gift to give during the holidays or treat to keep in the house. They are perfectly spiced with a blend of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg providing flavor in each bite. I also love rolling them in nuts to pack an a contrasting crunch on the outside.

    Dates- Nature's Candy!

These treats are refined sugar-free and just sweetened with dates – nature's candy! Dates are not just deliciously sweet; they're a powerhouse of nutrition! They offer fiber, essential minerals like potassium and magnesium, and they're a great natural substitute for sugar.

In order to get the right consistency and easily blend the ingredients together, first you'll need to soak your dates in warm water for 10 minutes. This allows the dates to be less hard and easier to process. When you add the dates to your food processor, don't add in the warm water, just add the dates.

    Nut Crunch

The rolled pecans on the outside provide a nice crunch to the dish to contrast the sticky spiced date interior. You can use whatever nuts you'd like, I used pecans, but many nuts contain the nutrients we're looking for to enhance this dessert. Pecans are a good source of protein, health fats, fiber, magnesium, and potassium.

Most of the fat found in pecans is a healthy type called monounsaturated fat. This type of fat fights cholesterol, improves heart health, and is good for your skin. It's a win, win, win in my book!

    Storage of Your Date Balls

This recipes makes about 10 date balls so I doubt you'll need to store them for a while. If you do, they can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week. You can also store them in the freezer for up to 3-4 weeks, just defrost them on the countertop for 10 minutes before you want to enjoy. That way they'll have their sticky interior still.
