Hello there, fellow food adventurers and lovers of flavors from afar! Today, we're embarking on a culinary journey into the heart of the Mediterranean with a homemade Falafel recipe that's going to transport your taste buds straight to the bustling streets of a Middle Eastern market. 🥙✨

Now, let me start with a confession – I'm absolutely smitten with falafels. Whenever I stroll into a Mediterranean restaurant, they're my go-to order. But then a thought crossed my mind: Why not bring that delightful experience into my own kitchen? So, I rolled up my sleeves, grabbed some chickpeas, and ventured into the world of homemade falafels. And the result? Absolute fantasticness!

These little flavor-packed wonders turned out even better than expected. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with a symphony of flavors. While this falafel recipe works best with an air frier, a regular old oven will also do the trick! Just a quick spray of avocado oil, and you'll have that irresistible crispiness.

Don't forget to save this recipe for your future culinary adventures! It's a game-changer when it comes to homemade delights.

Now, let's talk ingredients. We've got chickpeas, fresh parsley, shallots, garlic, sesame seeds, cumin, coriander (if you have it), and some flour for binding. It's a harmonious blend of flavors that's about to become your new kitchen favorite.

And of course, we can't forget the Tahini Sauce – a zesty, creamy concoction of lemon juice, garlic, tahini, cumin, and a dash of ice water to achieve that perfect drizzling consistency.

So, are you ready to embark on a culinary adventure and create these fantastic homemade falafels? Get ready to savor the flavors of the Mediterranean right at your own table!

If you're in the Mediterranean mood, I'd also recommend adding in some (super easy) hummus as another dip option!

    Equipment

    • 1 Food Processor

    Ingredients

    Falafel

    • 1 can of Chickpeas (15 oz)
    • ⅓ cup of Fresh Parsley
    • 2 Shallots
    • 4 cloves of Garlic
    • 2 tablespoon of Sesame Seeds
    • 1 ½ teaspoon of Cumin
    • 1 teaspoon of Coriander (optional)
    • 3 - 4 tablespoon of Flour (if GF, 1:1 GF flour)

    Tahini Sauce

    • 1 - 2 Lemons, juiced
    • 3 cloves of Garlic
    • ½ cup of Tahini
    • ½ teaspoon of Cumin
    • 4 - 6 tablespoon of Ice Water (to thin)

    Instructions

    Falafel

    • Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor except for the flour. Allow everything to mix together.
    • Add 1 tablespoon of flour at a time until the mixture isn't sticky.
    • Cover and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours (to firm up).
    • Scoop with a tablespoon and form into balls (I would recommend spraying a little avocado oil on your hand to make it easier).
    • Place in the air fryer at 400F for 10 min then flip and cook for another 5-10.
If using an oven, cook at 375F for 25 - 35 minutes instead.
    • Serve over mediterranean rice, veggies, and drizzle tahini sauce, enjoy!

    Tahini Sauce

    • Mince the gloves of garlic and place in the lemon juice. Let it soak for 10 minutes, then strain.
    • Combine all ingredients.
    • Pour over final dish.

And voila! Your delicious homemade falafel is ready to savor. Whether you enjoy it on its own or nestled in a pita with your favorite veggies and tahini sauce, this recipe is all about flexibility.
